Focus On More than Riding
We do so much more with our horse than just riding,
therefore horsemanship skills can offer so much to the relationship
you have with your horse. RD Horne Training Stables offer horsemanship
clinics that give you the skills in other areas from float loading
to first aid to farriery

Your First Horse
Course Clinic (3 Weekends)
The Course is taught in 3 modules over a 6 month
period, allowing you to apply what you have learnt with your
horse in between each module. Have you got your first horse
and feel like you are really learning on the job, maybe flying
a bit blind? There is no need to feel that way. Your First Horse
Course will give you all the basics you need to get going. You
will get hands on experience and understanding on all the things
that matter outside of your riding.
First Aid Workshop (1 Day Workshop)
Many of us have done a First Aid course for humans,
and now you can do a First Aid Course for horses too. Be prepared
for those moments we all dread, with a practical first aid course
that covers everything you need to know. With this knowledge you
will be able to manage all types of situations from coughs, to
cuts, to colic and choke. Rob is joined by
an equine vet in teaching this course.
Float Loading Clinics (1 Day Clinic)
One of the most common problems we see is difficulty
loading a horse onto a float.
One of things Rob has taught for many years is teaching riders
how to school their horse onto a float. Held on a weekend day,
Rob will teach you the fundamentals about getting your horse to
float stress free. Across the day you will gain the knowledge
through both theory and hands on experience in floating a horse.
The course covers
- The psychology of the horse
- Why do we have problems floating our horses?
- Different styles of floating (ie shot gun, angle,
truck) and the pros and cons of each
- Float safety – what are the safety aspects
of your float?
- The importance of leading your horse and what
is true leading
- The fundamentals of float training
- Training a young horse
- Training a remedial horse
