Get Focused On Your Riding

Can you truly say that you and your horse ride together? We offer lessons and clinics in our Focused Riding Method, an approach to riding that is highly valuable to anyone interested in training their horse towards a partnership. It is perfect for the serious competitor to the nervous rider looking for confidence building. We offer different levels and clinics based on your riding competency.

Get Your Horse Focused

Have you lost communication with your horse and you are experiencing remedial problems? Rob can assist you in overcoming all the common problems Services. When working with remedial horses, Rob will teach you how to solve the problem using the horse’s psychology and personality as a tool to break through and fix the issues.

What is Focus

Focused Riding is a Rob Horne’s approach to riding and training horses. After many years of training both horses and people Rob has learned that too much emphasis is put on the “technical” aspects of riding and not enough spent on the communication and connection between the rider and the horse.

Focused Riding teaches you how to get your mind focused on what you want to achieve with your horse, as well as how to get into your horse's mind so that you are both working in a partnership. Imagine the benefits you will achieve in training or competition when both you and your horse are totally focused on the job you are about to perform!

Focused Riding Clinics

We offer several clinics in Focused Riding. The way the course works is that there are two base level course that you would complete then you branch out into courses linked specifically to your discipline.
The courses are a combination of riding and theory. Riders who are looking for confidence building have the option to observe in Base Modules or participate in exercises with their horse they feel comfortable with;

Base Modules

1. GETTING BACK TO BASICS IN TRAINING (WEEKEND)
2. GETTING FOCUSED (WEEKEND)

Specialised Courses

1. FOCUS ON CONFIDENCE
2. FOCUS ON PERFORMANCE
3. FOCUS ON REMEDIAL PROBLEMS
4. FOCUS ON THE SHOW RING/COMPETITION
5. FOCUSED RIDING – BEGINNER RIDERS

There are two Base Modules you are required to do before going onto more specialised clinics. The purpose is to prepare you and your horse for the more specialised areas

BASE MODULE 1 - Getting back to basics

No matter what level of rider you are, or what discipline you engage in, there are huge benefits in constantly going back to basics with your horse. By basics we mean;

  • Understanding equine psychology, how a horse learns and key motivators
  • The foundations of training – what are the key elements every horse and rider needs to go forward?
  • Knowing your horse's language and signals – how well do you understand the communication your horse gives to you when riding. Is your communication two way?
  • Communicating for understanding – on the ground and on their backs
  • Understanding the importance of FOCUS and the training methods to achieve this
  • Riding with FOCUS – experiencing the feeling of oneness with your horse

BASE MODULE 2 - Getting Focused

The goal of FOCUSED riding is for you to achieve a “oneness” with your horse. By this we mean both horse and rider are absolutely focused on the job they are performing with a bi- lateral communication.

  • Understand how to use Focus to achieve oneness with your horse
  • Understand the importance of moving the horse's feet to become a single unit
  • Exercises and processes for becoming a single unit
  • How to set goals for you and your horse
  • Understand true collection and how to get it
  • Watch your own communication with your horse (video workshop)
  • Develop a Focused Riding plan for you and your horse based on your goals.
